Generational Equity

Drafted by Rep. Tim Penny (MN), Gov. Richard D. Lamm (CO), and Sen. Paul Tsongas (MA), the "Road to Generational Equity" was presented at a symposium in Minneapolis on December 18, 1995 called "Locating the New Political Center in America."

In the short term, nothing came of the "Road to Generational Equity". Eventually you could find traces of generational equity influence in books The Radical Center and The Two Percent Solution. Generational equity could also be found in Mark Satin's Radical Middle, and John Avlon's Independent Nation (2004).

Generational Equity urged politically courageous new directions under seven headings: Economic Stability, Economic Competitiveness, America as One Family, A Spiritual America (!), A Sustainable Environment, National Security, and Political Reform.Ê For better or worse, most of generational equity still reads as if it were written this week.
